A large portion of a website’s design is reserved for the type of graphics the user wants to place on the website. While some website owners want to plaster as many graphics on their website as possible, that isn’t the best way to attract visitors or keep them coming back.
If you are in the designing stages of your website, here are some things you should keep in mind when choosing what type of graphics you want to place on your website.
The Bandwidth Factor
Websites that have hundreds of graphics take longer to load than those with smaller graphics. This is because the larger a website’s bandwidth is the longer it takes to load. Website visitors don’t want to sit around waiting for a page to load and will often go to another site if it’s taking too long.
To keep your websites bandwidth down make sure you choose graphics that are an appropriate size and not too large. You will also want to make sure that the graphics are in the correct format. Most websites use GIF images as these have faster load times.
Choose Appropriate Colors
The colors of your graphics are what will attract people to your website but you don’t want to turn them off from your site. Try to choose graphics that are bright but not too flashy. You will also want to avoid flashing graphics and internet users have a habit of avoiding websites that use flashy graphics.
Using these tips will help you choose graphics that will attract visitors to your website and keep them coming back.
